The subject is introduced to the students to get an awareness of the different methodologies to analyse the structures.

In this semester, an importance is given to the analysis of the indeterminate structures. The topics under this subject will equip the students with the force and displacement methods of structural analysis with emphasis on analysis of rigid frames and trusses.

The first four modules deal with the displacement method of analysis of continuous beams and rigid frames. The fifth module deals with the analysis of curved members and the final module deals with the plastic analysis.

By this subject the student will be able to solve the indeterminate structures. 

Water Resource Engineering is a specific kind of civil engineering that involves the design of new systems and equipment that help manage human water resources. Some of the areas Water Resource Engineers touch on are water treatment facilities, underground wells, and natural springs.

Course includes the following

Hydrologic cycle, Precipitation, Infiltration and Evaporation-measurement and data analysis. Runoff-components and computation, Hydrograph, Unit Hydrograph and S-Hydrograph. Irrigation types and methods- training works. Surface water systems: diversion and storage systems, reservoir - estimation of storage capacity and yield of reservoirs - reservoir sedimentation  useful life of reservoir. Groundwater - Aquifer types and properties - Steady radial flow into a well. Estimation of yield of an open well.

This course will help students to have the fundamental knowledge in calculating the vertical stress and lateral stresses that would be developing within a soil mass due to different types of external loading. After the course completion student will be able to apply their knowledge on different theories in the design and analysis of foundations. 

Various methods to determine the bearing capacity of foundations.Both the shallow and deep foundations are analyzed in details. 

Different techniques of soil exploration is also being discussed.

This course gives an idea about how a geotechnical investigation programme is to be planned and executed.  In depth knowledge about various methods of geotechnical investigation and field test to be conducted in different situations are also discussed in this course.
